Growing up with the Ursulines
New permanent exhibition
From April 30
Growing Up with the Ursulines recounts the educational and profoundly human work of the Ursulines for almost 400 years. Through six rooms, the exhibition highlights
the Ursulines’ contribution to the development of modern schools and
the advancement of the status of women in Quebec.
Over 580 objects from collections and archival documents, some of which have never before been presented to the general public, are brought together under one roof. They reveal little-known aspects of the rich history of these women, nuns, teachers and, in turn, lords, artists, writers, scientists…
Among these priceless items are a founding document bearing the seal of King Louis XIII, a Copernican planetary dating from the 19th century and magnificent altar coverings embroidered by the Ursulines. A treasure trove of history to discover in the heart of Old Quebec!
