Sculptures

The Ursulines unquestionably possess one of the finest collections of old sculptures in Quebec. These works of art can be grouped into three categories: the chapel decor, sculpted by Pierre-Noël Levasseur between 1726 and 1736; a collection of statues of various provenance; and many sculpted decorative elements like the pedestals, niches, frames, reliquaries, candlesticks and more. Several sculptures were gilded in gold leaf by the Ursulines, including this Virgin with Child and these chancel candlesticks sculpted in the 18th century.
