Embroidery

The Ursulines’ embroidery is without a doubt the community’s most valuable treasure. The age of the pieces, the opulent decorations, the skill of the nuns and the quality of the materials used make this a one-of-a-kind collection in North America. Two of the masterpieces embroidered in the nuns’ workshop are pictured here: the altar cloth called Education of the Virgin, attributed to Marie of the Incarnation, and the chasuble known as the Saint Augustin chasuble, featuring a central medallion embroidered with silver, gold, polychrome wool and polychrome silk threads.
